Gregory Maxwell's Journey from Bitcoin Skeptic to Developer

Blockstream LogoCoinDesk has this insightful article on Gregory Maxwell, co-founder of Blockstream, and his changing opinion of Bitcoin.

“When bitcoin first came out, I was on the cryptography mailing list. When it happened, I sort of laughed. Because I had already proven that decentralized consensus was impossible.”

Clearly Gregory has changed his mind! Blockstream has been in the news since last October. Their unique sidechain technology showed the potential to expand blockchain technology. From the Blockstream web site:

Sidechains are blockchains that are interoperable with each other and with Bitcoin, avoiding liquidity shortages, market fluctuations, fragmentation, security breaches and outright fraud associated with alternative crypto-currencies. Sidechains allow the blockchain to be enhanced with better performance and privacy protections. They also enable new extensions to support myriad asset classes, like stocks, bonds, derivatives, real and/or virtual world currencies, as well as to add capabilities like smart contracts, secure handles and real-world property registries.

Gregory's journey started with an initial doubt of the validity of the blockchain and was quickly replaced by a love of the code and the technology. His vision for the future and this exciting technology is bright and aligns with how we feel about Bitcoin!
