Aesop Fable and Google Font Pairings

Aesop’s fables using Google Fonts is a project to showcase type pairings using Google Fonts extensive, free, open source collection. These fonts are suitable for web and print work.
There are over 650 Google Fonts available for free. But, pairing typefaces isn’t easy and many of those fonts don’t work for typical websites. Part of the 25x52 initiative, this collaborative, ongoing project offers inspiration for using Google’s font library.
As a designer, I love finding inspiring font combinations to use for client projects.

Google Font Pairings – The Gnat and the Bull
This first is a classic use of two complimentary serif fonts. Playfair Display is excellent for the title and Fauna One is nice and easy to read for the body text.

Google Font Pairings – The Astronomer
Megrim is the perfect font for the title of this space themed tale. Roboto Slab is one of my favorite sans serif fonts right now! Also this example shows off some beautiful, subtle animation that you have to click through to see!

Google Font Pairings – The Moon
I rarely use more than two font families in a single project, because I worry about it looking like some of my design work from the early nineties. This example successfully uses three families and I'm inspired to try my hand at a little more variety.
