Typography Tuesday

This is the first piece in a series of lettering related art projects by Joseph Alessio and I'm excited to see more! There are in progress shots and a video if you click through to the nascent project. Joseph references this beautiful Plato quote:

I am always attracted to type that is vintage or is hand lettered. Long Live the Reckless and the Brave by Mark van Leeuwen looks hand done and has a retro vibe. 

I can relate to the idea of walking through fire. And here it is so well illustrated by CaliDoso. Not only is the lettering perfect, the swaggering dude in the center is hilariously nonplussed.

I love this pop culture Lincoln quote "Be Excellent to Each Other and Party On Dudes" by Jaimie Wallace.

This gorgeous lettering for Mean Street Tattoo by Mateusz Witczak is beyond immaculate. It inspires me to get another tattoo ;)

Insomnia by Adrian Iorga is a gorgeous illustration that feels as heavy as insomnia is described. 

A Friend of Mine created the logo, packaging, and corporate identity for Waffee, a chain selling waffles and coffee. The letters forming the distinctive waffle pattern is simply brilliant! As perfect as the logo is, their raccoon mascots are adorable. Go over to their site to see how they handled the signage and the whole series of cute raccoon cartoons!

Roadkill Customs is a site I never would have been browsing since I don't need parts for custom vintage cars. But I am so glad I found their awesome photo galleries! These are a selection from their "Door Art and Lettering" gallery.

I love both the sayings and the lettering that Laura Dillema has created. Her portfolio is filled with beautiful hand drawn words and phrases. I'm a firm believer of making mistakes as part of the learning process so her work resonates with me.
